Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth. (Deuteronomy 11:18-21) |
What is D11 at Concord Community Church of the Nazarene? D11 Kids is all about surrounding kids with Godly influences as they grow and learn that God has always and will always love them, and He desires to shape them into the creation He wants them to be. The primary spiritual influence on a child's life is his/her parents! We know that, and we are not jealous of that, but we want to combine influences of the church with the family to better shape D11 Kids! This is a ministry for kids, but also for the whole family, because what we can accomplish together is so much better than on our own! From birth to 5th grade, we want all kids to know that God loves them, He has a plan for them, He saves them, and surrounds them with family members, pastors, small group leaders, teachers, and friends to help along the way.
D11 Infants and Toddlers At Concord Community Church we are committed to each child’s spiritual formation and to providing a safe, vibrant environment for ministry and early childhood development.
We have three areas in our nurseries that are staffed by a rotation of volunteer teachers who love and are uniquely gifted to care for children! We have a nursery for Infants-15 months and an additional nursery that has space for 15-24 months and two to three-year-olds split up for age appropriate ministry. Hands-on biblical curriculum is utilized because we believe every child, regardless of age, is precious to you and precious to our Creator God. We believe this age group gives us the easiest and quickest way to show God’s love to them by the care and love given by each volunteer. The curriculum we utilize is called First Look from The reThink Group. You can learn more about the curriculum here:
D11 Preschoolers This age group asks so many questions, is often very hyper, and is trying to figure out who they are. We want them to know that "God made me," "God loves me," and "Jesus wants to be my friend forever." These ideas come from the curriculum we utilize called First Look from The reThink Group. Each week these kids are introduced to a story from the Bible by means of creative teaching, crafts, snacks, stories, games, and prayer. We have two teachers that have been screened and approved to teach and guide your kids each Sunday morning and Wednesday night.
D11 Kids We value the family and know that each parent is the Primary Spiritual Leader for each child, but we also know the family needs the church to shepherd, lead, and be another influence on a kid's life. Our concern is not overloading parents with Children's Ministry events, but primarily supporting them, praying for them, and ministering to the family throughout the week and not just on Sundays. We do this several ways.
Sundays – Sundays are really important to us so when children start out in Sunday School at 9:15, they are being taught and led by top-notch teachers who want to help kids fall in love with the Bible. Then the D11 Kids head to the Lab (Children's Church room) where they worship God, fellowship, hear the Word from Pastor Dustin, play games, and participate in small groups to further discuss the message. We believe it is very important to have many influences in a kid's life, so each week we have at least five of our D11 staff in ministry with the kids. Every staff member is passionate about ministering to the D11 Kids and has been screened and approved.
Wednesdays – We enjoy gathering together in the middle of the week to learn more, encourage each other, and share stories of how God has loved others through us during the week. We start with our D11 Kids Choir at 6:45 at which time they practice songs they will share during our Family Worship Services every month. At 7:15, our kids go to Caravan, a Christian scouting program offered during the school year. The children are in small groups according to grade level, and the activities are geared toward both learning and fun. While learning biblical truths and practical lessons, kids have a wonderful opportunity to connect with other kids!
Every Day – It is our goal in D11 Kids to elevate the influence of the parent. We value the time we have with the kids throughout the week, but we realize if we are going to shape, raise, and influence a generation of leaders that loves like God loves, then we must partner together. We have a blog called (www.d11parents.com) where you as a parent can go and learn about the virtue we are teaching each month, learn about upcoming events, meet the D11 staff that ministers to the D11 Kids, and find out more information about Children's Ministry at Concord Community Church of the Nazarene. We have special events, trips, and activities throughout the year that you can read about on the blog, but our main interests are strengthening the family and letting you know how much we value you!
